Detectives were searching the landfill after they suspected the little boy's body was placed in a dumpster.

The FBI used DNA analysis to confirm that the bones belonged to 20-month-old Quinton, the agency said.

Chatham County police said on November 21 that they had arrested his mother, Leilani Simon, http://indomarketing.id/ 22, on charges of malice murder, concealing the death of another person, false reporting and making false statements involving her son.

Simon was being held in the Chatham County Jail, and it wasn't immediately clear Monday whether she had an attorney who could comment on her behalf.

Simon called police on October 5 to report that her son was missing from his playpen in their home just outside Savannah.

The remains that were determined to be Quinton's were found in a landfill on November 18.

FBI Atlanta said in a statement on Monday: 'A monumental team effort was put forth by everyone involved in bringing closure to this horrific situation.

'The 5-week search to find Quinton would not have been successful without the dedicated service of several groups.'

It said the search of the landfill officially ended on Monday.

While Leilani and her mother were seen, agents were searching this landfill for any signs of little Quinton's remains

Leilani was the prime suspect in the disappearance and death of the 20-month-old.

Child Protective Services also removed her two other children from her custody on October 12.

Two weeks after Quinton's disappearance, Leilani and her mother, Billie Jo Jowell, were at Sting Ray's, a beach bar in the nearby vacation town of Tybee Island, drowning their sorrows.

A photo of Leilani inside the bar was obtained by WSAV.
