Saoirse Ronan bagged her first Oscar-nomination aged 13 and has had a hugely successful career so far spanning more than two decades.

So it's no surprise the Irish actress, 29, has more than a few stories to tell about her time on filming on set and the experiences she has had over the years.

Talking to Harper's Bazaar, Saoirse opened up about her most intimate memories with castmates, being treated like 's**t' on set and managing her temper.

Saoirse, who met her boyfriend Jack Lowden on the set of her 2018 film Mary Queen of Scots, regularly gets out of London to explore the countryside with the actor.

Her love of the outdoors is something she has also shared with her cast mates, as she recalled a time last year when she was filming in the Orkneys.

Saoirse revealed that all of the women in the cast and crew went for a skinny dip in the sea at dawn, before getting out and having a chat 'butt naked'.

She said: When we got out, we talked and talked, butt-naked. It was so beautiful. It was a full moon that night and there was this strong female energy around us all day.

'And that's quite magical, because... women can practically kill each other. We can be the worst. But when you've got other women in your corner, they will defend you like nothing else. If you have that - which I've always had from my mother - you carry it with you your whole life.'

Saoirse did admit that not all of her experiences on film sets have been positive, revealing that she has been treated 'both really, really well and like 's**t'.

She said: 'As an actor, if you've worked your way up and had quite a well-rounded experience, you'll have played minor roles and played leads. You'll have been treated really well, you'll have been treated like s**t. You'll have been used, you'll have been taken care of. I think there's a real humility that comes with that.'

The four-time Oscar nominee admitted there are times when her temper can get out of hand, but insisted that it hadn't happened for a while.

Discussing outlets for her anger, she said: 'Oh, I've punched pillows, I've kicked bushes. Very childlike. I would say that's very juvenile - though I haven't got super-angry in a while, which is quite an achievement for me.'

During her personal time, Saoirse and Jack live between Ireland, Scotland, the US, London as well as the various places across the world that their work takes them.

Engaged? The couple sparked engagement rumours earlier this summer when he shared a picture of a hand sporting a dazzling diamond ring on the wedding finger. But they are yet to confirm the speculation

While the couple rarely make comment about their relationship publicly, they are often snapped out and about together - and Jack occasionally shares pictures of Saoirse on his Instagram page.

However in one interview earlier this year, he couldn't help but gush over his partner, telling iNews: 'My first love is actors. And when you're given a Ferrari like her, it's all about how you make everything good for the Ferrari to show off.

'Don't make a Ferrari do what a Renault Clio does. It's a dreadful analogy but they're like gold dust, good actors.

'When there's someone like that, you just have to facilitate them and you will get gold. And my God, did we.'

However he hinted that he preferred to keep his relationship as private as possible, adding: 'I'm not an idiot...We're hugely appreciative of the level of scrutiny we have… We're treated well but we don't seek it either.

'People have got it far worse. It's also obviously of our own making. Whatever - as long as we've got each other, we're alright with any of that.'

Meanwhile he also revealed he 'is not competitive' with his girlfriend, telling the Big Issue : 'I'd lose. There is just zero competition, because there is no competition.'
