Wye Fitting refers to a procedure in which two pieces of steel are welded together, usually within an in-line brazing construction method. This procedure can be done within a high carbon steel or other high carbon steels. The concept behind the concept is that the two steels are heated and beaten into their proper components with the idea of joining them together. The concept is fairly simple and has been around for decades. Many industries utilize this process because it offers a relatively simple and cost effective method for joining pieces of steel together. The term "Wye" comes from a Welsh term that means "right hand".

The purpose of the fitting is to join and create a space for the two metals to be joined. Typically the purpose of the fitting is to make the joining process easy, accurate, durable, and fast. The main components that are typically used in the fitting is what is known as a Tee (outer edge) and a Face (inner edge). There are also other components that can be used, but are not as common as the tee and face. These other components include: the bridge (which is identical to the face), pins, rollers, and a slew of other specialized attachments.

The wye assembly is designed to fit inside of a vent. The purpose of the event is to provide a controlled environment so that the joining process is as accurate and precise as possible. There are many different types of vent available. The most popular ones include: full, half, reverse, and plain vent. For each type of event you will have a varying degree of accuracy and performance.

The reason why you would want the fitting done by a trained professional is because of the design of the vent. If the vent is incorrectly put together then there is the possibility that it may blow off during a pour or seal. Additionally, if the vent is not attached to the face correctly the seal will not last very long. In addition, if the fitting is done wrong in the face can warp and create an air leak which will cause the entire thing to fail.

The wye must be placed inside of a face which has three openings. Three openings are required because the eye will need to be able to flow with both liquids and gas very accurately. Typically the wye fitting is only one opening and is placed at a 45 degree angle to both the inside and outside of the vent. Most commonly the wye will be placed inside a vent which is already sealed.

To perform the wye fitting you will require a sanitary tee and fitting materials. The sanitary tee will have holes in it so that the tee can be inserted into the vent. The fitting material is then used as a liner around the vent. Once the tee is inserted all that is required is for the tee to be fastened around the inside of the vent. The other two openings will then be taped onto the tee.
