2023 Jaguar XK is a remarkable departure from the traditional Jaguar look, with a modern dashboard design and the current presence of aluminum cladding instead of wood. Unfortunately, Jaguar's trend towards lower-market plastics continues, adding to a standard ambiance that doesn't quite match the price tag. With an on-screen interface that has been simple and intuitive in concept, but neither sensitive enough nor accurate found it frustrating in practice.
The success of groups like the Beatles and the Rolling Stones and icons like Twiggy the fashion model made British culture a hot commodity throughout the '60s — a fact that likely had positive implications for Jaguar's popularity in the U.S. The 1960s saw the launch of certainly one of Jaguar's most
well-known models. The new sports car, available as whether coupe or convertible, provided performance and refinement wrapped up in an undeniably sexy package. The E-Type (or XK-E as it was known in the U.S.) debuted for 1961.

XKR's Portfolio Package adds unique 20-inch wheels, an Alpine audio system, performance brakes, and a custom aluminum or walnut interior trim. The Advanced Luxury Package includes 16-way power seats, leather-wrapped instrumentation and door inserts, a heated leather controls, and power-folding mirrors. All Jaguar XKs feature many different wheel designs, adaptive lighting, adaptive cruise control, upgraded front seats with high quality leather, satellite radio, and reduced Alpine surround sound system.
After World War II, SS Cars switched its moniker to Jaguar in order not to be related to the Nazi paramilitary organization that bore the exact same initials. The blissful luxury sedan was joined that year by the XK 120, a sports vehicle which was the fastest production automobile of its day — its name indicating its top speed. In 1956, the vehicle took the prize at the Monte Carlo Rally. Meanwhile, the XK became the XK 140 as performance increased. Later in the decade, Jaguar added the Mark VIII and Mark IX to its lineup. Its first postwar offering was 1948's Mark V. The XK 120 proved quite popular and helped Jaguar establish a strong presence in the sports vehicle market. By the 1950s, Jaguar had begun exporting luxury vehicles to the United States. Then came the XK 150 that was obviously even faster, though not exactly as curvaceously alluring since the 120/140 models. Created just for the American market, the Mark VII Saloon was introduced in 1951 and was a winner with stateside motorists.
Powering both was Jaguar's new AJ-V8, a concise yet powerful engine that was also utilized in certain Land Rover vehicles. Unfortunately, this model sold poorly, as its modest European Ford sedan underpinnings proved to be a liability. Ford's influence (and financial support) was evident with the 1997 launch of Jaguar's XK8 and supercharged XKR sports cars. Around this time around, Jaguar's old-school traditional styling grew stale as competitors moved into the new millennium with cutting-edge, modern designs inside and out. A couple of years later, Jaguar made an endeavor to broaden its product line with the introduction of a lower-priced, entry-luxury compact sedan known as the X-Type.
The 1980s saw Jaguar continuing to raise the bar in performance with the launch of the XJ-S HE and a true-world supercar, the XJ220.
By now, however, Jaguar's cars had also built up a reputation for questionable reliability, electrical problems being the main supply of owners' angst. By the mid-'70s the lovely E-Type was replaced by the relatively bland XJ-S. Increased competition from German automakers and adverse exchange rates didn't help matters either. At one point, the XJ12 was the fastest production sedan of its day. A decade later, Jaguar introduced the XJ6C and XJ12C coupes to participate the sedans. This decision ultimately resulted in a full buyout of Jaguar by Ford in 1990. Without much capital to utilize to enhance matters, the organization made a decision to pursue a partnership with another company.
Power is delivered to the trunk wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission with manual shift control. Our test of an XKR Convertible revealed a 0-60 time of 4.9 seconds, with the coupe being fully a few ticks quicker. The standard
Jaguar XK is powered by a 4.2-liter V8 that generates 300 hp and 310 pound-feet of torque. The XKR features a supercharged version of the exact same engine puffed as much as produce 420 hp and 412 lb-ft of torque. In testing, we hustled the coupe up from zero to 60 mph in 5.6 seconds, while the convertible did the sprint in 6.3 seconds.
