Children enjoy watching seeds germinate. This is especially the case when seeds germinate quickly. Alfalfa is an easy to grow seed that will develop within one week. To watch the seeds germinate by sprinkling a few alfalfa seedlings on a sheet of
damp paper towel.
What you'll need
A small packet of Alfalfa seeds (about 1.5g).
A small or small dish, or a saucer
Three paper towels
an air mister, or a small water jug
How to Develop
Wet 3 pieces of paper towels, then put them on top of the other on a table.
Drain the water from the plate. The paper towel must be dampened, but seeds shouldn't be floating on the water.
Sprinkle the seeds evenly on the towel.
Place the dish on a window with a bright sun with water to stop the towel from drying. To dampen seeds, utilize a spray bottle or mister to do so. Add water to the saucer with either a cup or a small jug.
You should check your seeds daily to check how they're growing.
Troubleshooting
Alfalfa seed is easy to cultivate and should begin to sprout within 2 to 6 days. If seeds don't sprout within this time frame there are a few possibilities of what could have gone wrong:
Too dry. Seeds require water to grow. Alfalfa seeds suck up about own weight of water before getting germinated, making them appear swollen. Seeds that are dry do not germinate. To ensure that the seeds don't get sucked up in water, add more to your plate. You could also soak your seeds overnight. But be sure to drain them and rinse them well before transferring them to a towel.
Too moistIf the seeds are moist, the new shoots and roots could become rotten before they have a chance to grow. It is also possible that mould may begin to develop on the seeds. While it's acceptable to allow the paper towel and
بذور ملوخية seeds to remain damp, they shouldn't be submerged in water. Every time you mist or water the seeds, you should drain any excess water.
Too cold or hot Alfalfa thrives at 20-25°C. If you're growing your seeds in winter, you can put them in a cool spot indoors. If you are growing your seeds in extremely warm temperatures you may need to water the seeds more often because they'll dry out more quickly.
