Chris Cuomo and Dan Abrams denied claims made in the New York Post that the fired CNN host was vying for the NewsNation standby's primetime slot.

On Sunday the Post reported that Cuomo had been fuming throughout the NewsNation offices, raging against bad ratings and demanding that executives give him Abram's 9pm slot.

As Cuomo wrapped up his 8pm show and Abrams took the stage at 9pm, the production team appeared to ask Cuomo to stay on to discuss it with Abrams.

Abrams feigned anger at Cuomo, saying he had 'a bone to pick' with him and demanding to know why he was going behind his back to vie for the 9pm slot.

'I read the New York Post and they're telling me that you've been vying for my hour, and that you've been going to the bosses and saying ‘Oh I want Abrams to move to 8 and I'm gonna move to 9,' and I've got a problem with that,' Abrams said.

He then told Cuomo: 'I would prefer to do eight o'clock.'

After Cuomo said 'but you're the big dog, that's how it goes', Abrams replied: 'No, apparently I'm not, because if I was the big dog, I'd be still doing eight o'clock.'

Abrams then said: 'What your ratings in our little world here like whoa, Cuomo is hitting homeruns every night.'

During the back and forth, Cuomo denied the Post's report.

NewsNation also previously denied the Post's report, calling the claims of Cuomo's rage 'completely, totally, 100% inaccurate.'

Abrams continued his segment on Monday to poke fun at the way Cuomo is characterized in the New York Post's stories.

'Every week you're yelling at somebody apparently, you're angry about this and you're angry about that and Cuomo was furious,' Abrams said, then touted Cuomo's ratings at NewsNation.

According to the Post, Cuomo's viewership ratings have been declining since his new show aired in early October, citing an average viewership of 119,000 viewers in the week of the 17th.

NewsNation pushed back on that characterization, telling DailyMail.com that viewership for Cuomo had increased 276 percent since his show aired.
